Frameless Shower Doors in Baltimore, MD

Frameless shower doors use thick tempered glass with very little visible hardware, so the tile and the room stay in view. Baltimore Glass Company measures, orders, and installs frameless doors, panels, and enclosures in Baltimore and the surrounding area, and has served the city since 1928.

Let the Tile Do the Talking

Frameless enclosures use heavy tempered glass, commonly 3/8 or 1/2 inch, held by hinges, clamps, and brackets instead of a full metal frame. With fewer parts to catch soap and water, they are easier to wipe down, and the glass shows off your tile.

They cost more than framed or semi-frameless doors because the glass is thicker and the hardware has to carry its weight. That is the honest tradeoff, and for most people who choose frameless it is worth it.

Frameless glass is rigid, so we template your opening and tell you what it needs before we order.

Frameless Layouts We Install

Common frameless layouts include a hinged door beside a fixed panel, a corner enclosure with a return panel, a fixed-panel walk-in with no door, and a door over a tub deck. Tell us what you are planning and we will go over what your opening and walls allow.

What We Check First

Walls that are not plumb Frameless glass is rigid, so we template around out-of-plumb walls and tell you what adjustments are needed.
Tile that is not finished We measure after the tile is complete so the glass fits the finished opening.
Frameless or semi-frameless Frameless costs more and looks more open. Semi-frameless costs less and keeps a slim frame.

Frameless Shower Door Questions

  • How much do frameless shower doors cost?

The price depends on the layout, glass thickness and type, hardware finish, and the condition of your walls. We measure first and quote from your actual opening. Our shower door cost guide explains what moves the number.

  • Why do frameless doors cost more than framed doors?

Frameless doors use thicker glass, often 3/8 or 1/2 inch, and heavier hardware that carries the weight without a frame. The glass is cut and finished to fit, which adds to the cost compared with framed or semi-frameless doors.

  • Can you replace my framed shower with a frameless one?

Often, yes. We remove the old unit, check the curb and walls, and measure for the new glass. Frameless glass is rigid, so we confirm the walls and curb can support the layout you want.

  • Do frameless shower doors leak?

Frameless doors have small gaps at the hinge side and the bottom, so some water can escape. Clear seals and a bottom sweep reduce it, and a curb that slopes back into the shower helps. We check this when we measure.

  • How long does it take to get a custom frameless enclosure?

The glass is cut to your measurements after we measure the finished opening, so there is a lead time before installation. We confirm timing when we quote.

  • What type of glass is best for a frameless shower?

Most homeowners choose clear tempered glass for its timeless look. Low-iron glass has less green tint and costs more, and frosted or textured glass adds privacy. See our types of glass guide for the differences.

  • What hardware finishes are available?

Finishes include chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and brass tones. Availability varies by hinge style, so ask what is offered for your layout.

  • How do I clean a frameless shower door?

Wipe the glass after showers with a squeegee, and use a non-abrasive glass cleaner or a mix of vinegar and water to prevent soap residue and hard water buildup.

  • Do you install frameless doors in Towson, Cockeysville, and Annapolis?

Yes. We install shower enclosures in Baltimore, Towson, Owings Mills, Cockeysville, Dundalk, and Annapolis, and in nearby areas. Call (443) 443-5585 to check your address.

  • How do I get started with a frameless door?

Call (443) 443-5585 or send the quote form. We schedule a time to measure your shower, talk through layouts and hardware, and quote from the actual measurements.
